An Unforgettable Day in Kamakura with the Best Guide, Taki!
Taki was truly exceptional, and our day in Kamakura became one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. If you are looking for a guide who will give you a personal, meaningful experience of Kamakura, choose Taki. Taki is from Kamakura, and his connection to the area made such a difference. He planned a perfect day specifically for us and took advantage of the beautiful weather. We started by riding the charming old Enoden train to the coast, where we were treated to an incredible view of Mt. Fuji rising beyond the Pacific Ocean. What a way to begin our first full day in Japan! Throughout the day, Taki guided us through some of Kamakura’s most beautiful and important places, including Hase-dera Temple, Kotoku-in and the Great Buddha, Jomyo-ji, Hokoku-ji and its beautiful bamboo garden, and the Yukinoshita area. One of the things we appreciated most was everything Taki taught us along the way. He explained Japanese customs and showed us the proper way to enter, behave, pray, and show respect when visiting temples and shrines. Those lessons gave so much more meaning to everything we were seeing. We would never have learned or understood nearly as much had we explored Kamakura on our own. Taki also chose an excellent place for lunch. I have a food allergy, and he had clearly paid attention to this when planning our day. He carefully made sure the food was safe for me, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the meal. That level of thoughtfulness meant a great deal to me. Another huge benefit was having Taki meet us directly at our hotel in Tokyo and travel with us by train to Kamakura. This was our first full day in Japan, and we were still learning the train system. Having him there to guide us through the stations and trains was invaluable and made the entire day easy from beginning to end. Most of all, Taki is simply a kind, pleasant and wonderful person to spend the day with. We genuinely enjoyed getting to know him. By the end of our tour, we felt we had experienced far more than a sightseeing trip. We came away with a much deeper understanding of Kamakura, its history, culture, traditions and people. There is no way we would have visited so many places or gained such a comprehensive understanding of Kamakura on our own. Taki’s service went far beyond our expectations. We are so grateful we chose to experience Kamakura with him, and we will never forget our day together. If you have the opportunity to tour Kamakura with Taki, book him. This was much more than a tea ceremony, it was a peaceful and meaningful experience that became one of the highlights of our visit to Kamakura. Miki led the tea ceremony with warmth, patience, and genuine enthusiasm. She explained not only what to do, but also the meaning behind each part of the ceremony, answering all of our questions in great detail. Learning about the traditions, preparing our own matcha, and taking the time to slow down and be present made the experience truly special. The atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and intimate, and both Miki and Takumi made us feel at home.
