We will take you to the world of artisans with 800 years of history.
Takumi Ikeda, who was born and raised in Kamakura, has crafted a program centered around traditional craftsmanship, drawing on his unique experiences working as a crew member on a Greek cruise ship and at luxury hotels in Japan.

Kamakurabori

One of the highlights is a hands-on experience with Kamakurabori, a traditional form of wood carving with nearly 800 years of history. Originating in the carved Buddhist statues and ritual objects of Zen temples, Kamakurabori continues to play an essential role in daily life today, appearing in items like tableware, trays, and tea ceremony utensils.

What’s “uraroji”?

The tour also includes a stroll through Kamakura’s enchanting backstreets—places often missed by tourists but rich in local charm. Since the Meiji era, Kamakura has attracted literary giants and served as the setting for numerous anime, films, and TV dramas. You’ll also visit an art gallery dedicated to one of Japan’s leading collage artists, where you’ll get a glimpse of nostalgic, quintessential Japanese scenery.

This is a carefully curated tour offering rare, insider experiences that only a local could provide.
