Cutomized Half-Day Tour with Local Guide Kamakura

Our Customized Half-Day Tour with Local Guide has been receiving wonderful feedback from travelers around the world.
But what makes this experience truly different from other tours in Kamakura?

Guided by a True Local: Takumi from Kamakura

Bamboo Forest at Hasedera Temple Kamakura

The tour is led by Takumi, who was born and raised right here in Kamakura.
As a true local, he knows the hidden spots, local legends, and cultural stories that don’t appear in guidebooks.
His deep knowledge and friendly explanations make every stop more meaningful—whether it’s a quiet temple path or a local snack stand.

This flexibility ensures that every guest enjoys Kamakura in their own way, at their own pace.

Local Partnership: From “Real” Kimono Culture to Luggage Storage

Authentic KIMONO Shop Katsura

We work closely with Tourist Helpers Kamakura, located just a one-minute walk from Kamakura Station’s west exit.
They provide convenient services for travelers such as luggage storage or delivery—perfect for those exploring the city hands-free.

The shop owner, Mako Isonishi, is fluent in English and always brightens guests’ days with her warm hospitality.
Interestingly, this location has a long history—it’s actually the Authentic KIMONO Shop Katsura, founded 57 years ago.
In October 2025, they launched Tourist Helpers Kamakura, combining practical traveler support with a chance to experience real Japanese culture.

Inside the shop, you’ll find a carefully curated selection of kimono from across Japan.
Guests who wish can stop by during the tour and enjoy a short talk from Mako about kimono culture.
Her explanations are fascinating and easy to understand—even for first-time visitors.
Recently, Kaga-embroidery accessories have become especially popular among international guests.

Learning Beyond the Landmarks

Of course, our tour also visits Kamakura’s famous sites—Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, The Great Buddha (Kotoku-in), and Hase-dera Temple—but our goal isn’t just to “see” them.
Through our local guide’s storytelling, you’ll discover the deeper meaning behind these places and the beliefs that shaped them.

Ever wondered:

  • What’s the difference between a shrine and a temple?
  • Why was the Great Buddha built?
  • Why does Japan have so many gods?
  • Was Tsurugaoka Hachimangu once both a shrine and a temple?

As Takumi explains these questions, Japanese history begins to take shape before your eyes.
It’s not about memorizing facts—it’s about understanding the spirit behind them.

A Tour Full of Fun and Connection

Most importantly, our guides’ mission is simple: to make sure you have fun.
We love chatting with guests not only at the landmarks, but also during train rides, walks, and café breaks.
By the end of the tour, many guests say it feels less like a guided tour and more like spending a memorable day with a new friend.
