Where to Eat Great Wagyu Beef in Kamakura

Missing Good Beef During Your Japan Trip?

Missing good beef while traveling in Japan?

If that sounds like you, Kamakura has a place I can confidently recommend: WAGYU IKKYO.

After a private guided tour in Kamakura, we visited WAGYU IKKYO for a special Wagyu lunch. It turned out to be much more than just lunch — it was a full dining experience.

A Special Wagyu Lunch After Exploring Kamakura

After enjoying a private guided tour with a guest from Spain, we finished the day with a special lunch at WAGYU IKKYO.

Don’t forget.

If you visit the restaurant, you must make a reservation in advance.
Why? Because they prepare special rice for each reservation.

You can choose either sukiyaki or shabu-shabu.

Yonezawa Beef and Yamagata Beef from Yamagata Prefecture

The experience starts right after you order.
First, the chef shows you the day’s Wagyu beef.

In the front is Yonezawa Beef for the premium course, and behind it is Yamagata Beef.
Both are from Yamagata Prefecture, one of Japan’s famous regions for high-quality beef.

“You can hold the tray with the Wagyu!”

Today’s guest from Spain 🇪🇸 held the tray with beautiful blocks of Wagyu beef — and of course, he looked very happy.

Then it was time to enjoy the meal.

Freshly Cooked Rice in a Donabe Clay Pot

The rice is also part of the experience.
It is cooked in a donabe, a traditional Japanese clay pot.

When you open the lid, a warm, sweet aroma rises from the rice.

You can taste how the heat reaches deep into each grain — something you can’t experience in the same way with an electric rice cooker.

Sukiyaki or Shabu-Shabu: Which Should You Choose?

At WAGYU IKKYO, you can choose either sukiyaki or shabu-shabu.

Sukiyaki: Rich, Sweet, and Sizzling

If you want a rich, sweet, and savory Wagyu experience, sukiyaki is a great choice. The sizzling sound and live feeling at the table make it especially exciting, and the slightly sweet soy-based sauce gives the beef a deep, comforting flavor.

Shabu-Shabu: Light, Delicate, and Full of Natural Wagyu Flavor

If you prefer a lighter and more delicate taste, shabu-shabu is a great choice. It lets you enjoy the natural sweetness and tenderness of the Wagyu more directly.

In the video above, you can see the staff pouring the hot broth right at the table.

I chose shabu-shabu this time, and the moment I took a bite, the sweetness of the Wagyu and the melt-in-your-mouth texture made you so happy.

Both are excellent, so it really depends on your mood. If you are not sure which to choose, I can help you decide based on your taste during the tour.

Why I Recommend WAGYU IKKYO in Kamakura

Between us, a dining experience with this level of Wagyu could easily cost much more in Tokyo.

But here in Kamakura, WAGYU IKKYO offers carefully selected ingredients, beautiful Wagyu beef, and warm hospitality at a very fair price.

For food lovers looking for something special outside central Tokyo, this is a very good choice.

Add This Wagyu Lunch to Your Kamakura Private Tour

If you would like to enjoy this Wagyu lunch as part of your Kamakura private tour, I would be happy to take you there.

It is a great way to finish a day of temples, shrines, local streets, and culture with a delicious and memorable meal.
